Before joining the SMA team, he worked for GE Power as a senior project manager for field execution. Prior to GE, he spent more than 10 years at Alstrom Power, serving in multiple roles during that time. Schuetz earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and energy technology at the University of Applied Sciences, Konstanz. With more than 23 years of experience in the Mexican energy sector, Hector Olea has actively participated in the promotion and development of renewable energy in the country. Since 2004, Hector Olea is President and CEO of Gauss, a business development firm specialized in the energy sector. Gauss activities are focused in the identification, development and structuring investment opportunities in renewable energy projects, which accounts for more than US$700 million in greenfield projects. Before, he acted as CEO of Suez in Mexico, where he led its transformation into a nationwide energy company. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Olea acted as Chairman of the Mexican Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE). He is President of the Asociación Mexicana de Energía Solar Fotovoltaica (Asolmex) and Chairman of the Mexican Section of the Mexico-US Business Energy Council. He is an economist from ITAM (Mexico) and earned his Master and PhD in Economics at Rice University (US). In 1989, he was distinguished with the Banamex Economics Award.

Daniel joined NADB in 2010 as a senior project development specialist and in 2012, he became part of the Project Administration team. Prior to joining NADB, he worked for the banking sector in Mexico City as the Business Development Manager for Dexia Credit Local.

Early in his career, Daniel worked as an advisor in the Ministry of Finance in Mexico and occupied the positions of senior analyst and associate director at the Latin American Public Finance Division of Fitch Ratings in Mexico City.

In June 2019, Katya Somohano was named by Forbes Mexico as one of the Most Powerful Women in 2019.

She occupies since January 2019 the position of Director of Energy in Deacero, one of the largest steel companies in Mexico, which represents one of the top-five power consumer in Mexico.

Previously, she became the first female Director in CFE, the Mexican main power utility with more than 80 years of existence. She was appointed to found, organize and operate a new entity, as the Chief Executive Officer of CFE Calificados, a qualified power supplier company. CFE Calificados became in less than a two years period a US$500 million income organization, with more than thirty power supply contracts with large industrial and commercial consumers in Mexico.

Under her leadership, CFE Calificados, was positioned as the undisputed leader of the Qualified Energy Market with approximately 85% of market share, competing with top-class global energy companies. Throughout this short period, CFE Calificados secured an energy efficient portfolio that represented investments over 1,700 MW in the long term. In October 2018, Ms. Somohano signed the largest Power Purchase Agreement in the Mexican Energy Market, which represents over a US$1 billon and an energy supply commitment of around 500MW.

Mr. Esaúl Ramírez serves as Infrastructure Financing and Officer at the North American Development Bank (NADB), a binational lending institution headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. Owned in equal parts by the US and Mexican governments, NADB’s mission is to develop and finance sustainable infrastructure projects located on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Mr. Ramírez has over 16 years of experience in the traditional and renewable energy sectors, including 9 years at NADB. In his current role, Mr. Ramírez is responsible for originating, structuring and closing Project Finance loans for renewable energy projects located on both sides of the US-Mexico border region.

During his tenure at NADB, Mr. Ramírez has worked on more than 20 successful transactions, totaling approximately 2 GW of solar and wind generation, including 4 transactions in Texas, representing over $4 billion in investment. Most recently, Mr. Ramírez led a syndicate of lenders in the closing of loan for a 250 MW wind project in Nuevo León, Mexico, the first Auction-related wind energy transaction post energy reform in Mexico for NADB.

Prior to NADB, Mr. Ramírez served in various capacities at New Mexico-based PNM Resources, Inc., an investor-owned energy holding company.

Rafael is a co-founder of GreenMomentum Inc., a market intelligence and innovation company, focused on cleantech industry in Latin America. He’s GreenMomentum’s Principal of Business Development, responsible to build the strategic alliances of the company’s initiatives. He´s also, founder of Cleantech Challenge Mexico, Latin America´s top green business accelerator program, and, former Secretary of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Solar National Energy Society (ANES).

He has more than 25 years of experience in cleantech sector, in which, he has been a consultant for international organizations such as USAID, WWF Zennström Philanthropies, amongst others. He was responsible for the development of applications for the commercial vehicles industry, working at Voith Turbo and Telma Retarder in Mexico, United States, Canada and Central America. In addition, he has participated in international initiatives to promote sustainable mobility, such as the Aurora Solar Vehicle Association.

Before GreenMomentum, in 2003 he founded REConsulting, one of the first Mexican consulting companies producing digital wind maps in Mexico.

Alexander Wolf is the General Manager of Meteocontrol Central America, subsidiary of meteocontrol Germany, the leading global provider of independent solar monitoring systems. Mr. Wolf is in charge of the operations in the region of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, covering sales, technical support as well as independent engineering services, like yield forecasts, technical due diligence, and energy and weather data analytics. With members of his team located in Central America and Mexico the organization has the right set-up to satisfy customer demands for more and more sophisticated monitoring and O&M solutions in the whole region. Mr. Wolf worked in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector for more than ten years, being one of the pioneers to establish and promote innovative technologies in El Salvador and the neighboring countries. Previously, Mr. Wolf gained vast international experience while working for several years in business development at Siemens Industry Sector in Germany and living in Scandinavia, South America, the United States and Australia. Mr. Wolf holds an engineering degree from Mittweida University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

Cuenta con más de 9 años de experiencia en desarrollo, análisis y modelaje financiero de proyectos de infraestructura energética tanto de fuentes renovables como de no renovables.

En los años previos a su incorporación a Balam Fund, Daniel ha trabajado tanto en Planeación y Análisis Financiero como en Desarrollo de Negocios en importantes empresas del sector energético. Su experiencia incluye el desarrollo y revisión de modelos financieros de plantas generadoras eléctricas (solares fotovoltaicas, eólicas y de ciclo combinado con múltiples turbinas), manejo de relaciones con proveedores del sector y análisis de calidad crediticia de offtakers potenciales de energía eléctrica. En InterGen, empresa generadora de energía eléctrica, ha participado en la toma de decisiones operativas y financieras estratégicas para maximizar el desempeño financiero de diversos proyectos al igual que ha participado en el proceso de venta de los activos de LATAM a Actis. Anteriormente, se desarrolló profesionalmente en Water Capital, grupo financiero enfocado en proyectos de tratamiento de aguas residuales, generación renovable y eficiencia energética, en donde participó en la estructuración de proyectos energéticos, así como la selección de proveedores y negociación de los principales contratos requeridos para la operación de cada proyecto.

Eduardo is the Power & Utilities leading partner in PwC Mexico. He’s also part of the Strategy& team (formally Booz & Company). He has +12 years of consulting experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, with emphasis on Clean Energy and new technologies. He has developed engagements related to National Energy Planning, Growth Market strategies, Business Model Design, Due Diligence and Post Deal Services.

Prior to join Strategy& in Mexico, he worked 10 years in the Strategy & Operations office at PwC Spain. He has also worked in multiple geographies, including Central and West Europe, Central and South America and Australia.

Eduardo holds an MBA from ESADE Business School (Barcelona), a Master in Risk Management, U. Francisco de Vitoria and is an Industrial Engineer from Universidad Anahuac Mexico where he has been professor of Strategic Planning.

José Antonio holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Granada University and MBA from IE Business School (Spain). He is currently Director in BBVA leading the Energy, Oil & Gas Project Finance team in México. He joined BBVA in 2018 and throughout his professional career has worked for multinational companies in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors (Deloitte, Engie, OHL, AZVI, BOUYGUES). He has successfully performed Project Finance, investments and acquisitions in the Energy sectors, as well as structured and led investments in multiple projects: Wind, Solar, thermal power plants and gas pipelines, among others. In addition to Jose Antonio’s experience in Project Finance, he has previously worked in Infrastructure business developments in several European projects such as: High Speed Railways, Subways, Highways, Water Pipelines and Hospitals.

Mr. Repsher is an energy advisor with deep experience in understanding environmental regulations and storage economics, and for over fifteen years has guided clients through initiatives spanning strategic resource planning, divestitures of non-core assets to enhance shareholder return, mergers and acquisitions, project development, restructurings and other litigation, off-take contract structuring and valuation, asset financing, identification of concrete value "off-ramps" to realize investment returns for specific power assets, and best practice analyses. He has worked with and presented before various Boards, CEOs, CFOs and executive management teams of utilities, cooperatives, private equity, independent power producers, and infrastructure funds. As Sr. Director of Sales, Alejo Lopez leads NEXTracker’s business development and sales team for Mexico and Latin America. He is responsible for building NEXTracker’s market share in Mexico, having closed over a gigawatt of business since his tenure at the Company. Alejo is a subject matter expert in Latin American energy markets where he has worked extensively for over a decade. Prior to joining NEXTracker in 2016, Alejo was Country Manager for Hanwha Q CELLS in Mexico, with primary responsibilities of project development, M&A and PPA sales. Alejo was also a key member of Siliken USA Distributed Generation managing project development and structured finance after working as an advisor with cutting-edge clean-tech ventures including Combined Power, ElectraDrive and other well-known venture firms in Silicon Valley. He currently sits on the board of the Asociación Mexicana de Energía Solar Fotovaoltaica (ASOLMEX), Mexico’s premier solar association.

Alejo, a native of Argentina, started his career running large numerical models, fracking wells as a Reservoir Engineer in Patagonia. He left the oil and gas industry after 6 years to pursue an MBA in Finance at the University of San Francisco where he graduated with honors. Alejo also holds an MSe in Petroleum Engineering from UNC Argentina and currently lives in Mexico City.

Carlos estudió la carrera de Técnico Especialista Electromecánico en el Instituto Politécnico Salesianos, en España, y cuenta con diversos estudios de especialización relativos a prevención y salud en el trabajo, medio ambiente, estándares de calidad y gestión de empresas, así como sobre la gestión de proyectos eólicos, solares y de subestaciones eléctricas. Tiene más de 10 años de experiencia en la supervisión de actividades de instalación, operación y mantenimiento, de proyectos eólicos y solares, en Europa, Asia y América.

Anteriormente, se desempeñó en diversos cargos de monitoreo y supervisión de operaciones y mantenimiento en empresas como Aldesa, Vestas, Iberdrola Renovables y Gamesa Eólica.

Al día de hoy, Carlos se desempeña como Gerente de O&M en Zuma Energía coordinando un portafolio de 811 MW eólicos y solares distribuidos en 4 proyectos en México.

Carlos Salas has more than 15 years of experience in the energy sector. He has managed both conventional and renewable generation plants. He currently holds the position of Operation & Maintenance Director of Enel Green Power Mexico, being responsible for the management of the 11 Enel Group plants in the country, of hydraulic, solar and wind technologies.

Throughout his career he is characterized by the development of efficient processes for the operation and maintenance of power generation plants. Also for the creation of strategies, procedures and the implementation of tools that allow adding value to the business.

Carlos stands out for the constant identification of new areas of opportunity, the implementation of adequate budgetary, administrative and operational management, always aligned with the highest international standards of security and energy management.

Prior to joining Enel Green Power, he was the Service Manager for Mexico of the subsidiary of GE Granite Service International, as well as Operations and Energy Efficiency Manager at CCC Iberdrola Energía Altamira (1036 MW).

I am currently coordinating the Asset Management department worldwide. I am organizing and supervising all local AM offices (Australia, Jordan, India, Uruguay, Mexico and Spain), it means more than 1GW. The main tasks that I am performing are: coordination between different departments (financial, accounting, legal, technical, etc.), supervising internal procedures and protocols, supervising AM team technical tasks, support and coordination between Construction/AM department, PAC/FAC processes (extensive experience coordinating these phases), deep experience in financing and re-financing processes, CAPEX and OPEX review (including P&L analysis of the SPVs and the AM business line), preparation and review of annual budget, monthly reporting to Board of Directors committees. I am in charge of AM business development line having a meetings with potential clients, preparing all comercial proposals about AM services.

Currently I have been included in the technical development side of the FRV Spanish portfolio, I am giving support in EPC, O&M, AM, Market Agent and financing agreements.

Eduardo Avilés is responsible for the O&M department of Enel Green Power in Mexico. He has under its portfolio more than 1 GW of photovoltaic generation and manages the budget for operation and maintenance of the solar plants in the country.
Eduardo has 17 years of professional career, eight of them in Enel, where he has worked in various strategic roles. He joined the Group in 2010 in the area of Logistics and Supply Chain in Madrid.
Five years later, in 2015, he began his professional experience in Italy where he served as Director of Maintenance and Solar Technical Service of the Enel Group. He subsequently held the position of Solar Head O&M of Enel Green Power in Mexico, a responsibility he has held since 2018.
Prior to his arrival in Enel, Avilés worked for EUFER Fenosa Renovables (Madrid, Spain) and Protec Iluminación in Spain.

He holds a degree in Industrial Engineer in Electricity awarded by the University of Burgos, Spain. He also has studies in Maintenance Engineering by the ATISAE Group in Madrid. In addition, he also holds a degree in Industrial Engineering in Organization awarded by the European University.
