Mr. Esaúl Ramírez serves as Infrastructure Financing and Officer at the North American Development Bank (NADB), a binational lending institution headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. Owned in equal parts by the US and Mexican governments, NADB’s mission is to develop and finance sustainable infrastructure projects located on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Mr. Ramírez has over 16 years of experience in the traditional and renewable energy sectors, including 9 years at NADB. In his current role, Mr. Ramírez is responsible for originating, structuring and closing Project Finance loans for renewable energy projects located on both sides of the US-Mexico border region.

During his tenure at NADB, Mr. Ramírez has worked on more than 20 successful transactions, totaling approximately 2 GW of solar and wind generation, including 4 transactions in Texas, representing over $4 billion in investment. Most recently, Mr. Ramírez led a syndicate of lenders in the closing of loan for a 250 MW wind project in Nuevo León, Mexico, the first Auction-related wind energy transaction post energy reform in Mexico for NADB.

Prior to NADB, Mr. Ramírez served in various capacities at New Mexico-based PNM Resources, Inc., an investor-owned energy holding company.

Mr. Ramírez earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, Summa Cum Laude, and received his M.B.A. in Finance and International Management from the University of New Mexico.

Previously Director of Development and Acquisitions from 2011 through 2017 at InterEnergy, a Latin American regional power company involved in development, acquisition and operation of power projects in nine regional markets.

Highly experienced executive in the development, construction, financing and operation of power projects. Broad experience of private equity funding experience at CEO, COO and Director level, having led multiple $100m+ transactions to succesful conclusion including managing large teams of staff and advisors. Have led >$2.5bn in transactions as lender or borrower with every mulitlateral and bilateral development bank operating in Latin America and many of the most prominent regional lenders. Recent work almost exclusively in the renewable space including projects in wind, solar PV, biomass, hydro and geothermal as well as participation in LNG terminal development and LNG delivery mechanisms through the region.

Antes de INVEX, trabajó como Asociado en HAL Investments BV, en Rotterdam, Barcelona y Sao Paulo. Asimismo, tiene un MBA por la Universidad de Chicago, donde se especializó especializado en finanzas analíticas y obtuvo el grado con honores. Actualmente es Gerente Nacional de Energía & Ingeniería del Tecnológico de Monterrey y es socio fundador de una empresa de consultoría energética, participación y análisis del Mercado Eléctrico Mexicano. Ha participado en la formulación, negociación y desarrollo de PPA´s de contratos legados y contratos bilaterales en la LIE.

José Antonio holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Granada University and MBA from IE Business School (Spain). He is currently Director in BBVA leading the Energy, Oil & Gas Project Finance team in México. He joined BBVA in 2018 and throughout his professional career has worked for multinational companies in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors (Deloitte, Engie, OHL, AZVI, BOUYGUES). He has successfully performed Project Finance, investments and acquisitions in the Energy sectors, as well as structured and led investments in multiple projects: Wind, Solar, thermal power plants and gas pipelines, among others. In addition to Jose Antonio’s experience in Project Finance, he has previously worked in Infrastructure business developments in several European projects such as: High Speed Railways, Subways, Highways, Water Pipelines and Hospitals.

Es ingeniero eléctrico de la Universidad Iberoamericana con especialidad en sistemas de potencia. Cursó también una maestría en administración en el ITESM campus ciudad de México.
Fue fundador de Inelap, ahora parte del Grupo Arteche, donde permanece como socio. Es Senior Member del IEEE y miembro del CIGRE. Fue Vicepresidente de Caname y actualmente preside la AMENEER, la Asociación Mexicana de Empresas en Eficiencia Energética.
Funge como Consejero Consultivo de NAFIN en el Estado de México y en sus actividades docentes es profesor titular en la UNAM.
En 2015 fue nombrado Consejero Consultivo en la Comisión Reguladora de Energía.
Es coautor del libro: “Calidad de la Energía: Factor de potencia y filtrado de armonicas” publicado por McGraw-Hill. Tiene más de 15 artículos técnicos publicados en diferentes foros en México y en el extranjero. Fue el único latinoamericano que participó en la redacción de la norma IEEE 519-92: Recommended Practices and Requirements for Harmonic Control in Electrical Power Systems.
Contribuye en APQ, donde es socio, diseñando estrategias de negocio relacionadas con la calidad de energía.
Colabora como columnista de Energía Hoy con su columna Ideas con Brío desde hace más de 12 años. Escribe con regularidad una columna sobre vinos, además de importar, vinos italianos Jorge Zepeda Patterson, escritor y Premio Planeta de Novela en el 2015, lo describe como: “Espíritu libre montado en Excel; un bohemio con agenda”

David Crisostomo, associate director of Latin America Power, Gas, Coal and Renewables at IHS Markit, is an expert in the Mexican gas and power markets.

His research and analysis includes gas and electricity market fundamentals, modelling, regulatory framework analysis and implications for business opportunities. Mr. Crisostomo's research has included natural gas transportation studies, distributed power potential in Mexico and Latin America, power generation and transmission investment opportunities, asset valuations, and the analysis of operational and investment strategies for utilities, financial institutions and other market participants. Before joining IHS Markit he was at Iberdrola Spain, where he developed a dispatch model taking into account key regulatory changes and the increasing penetration of renewable resources in the Spanish market. Mr. Crisostomo holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, an Master of Science in Engineering and Policy Analysis from the Delft University of Technology, and Master of the Electricity Sector from the Pontifical University Comillas in Madrid, Spain.

He is also responsible for the development, advocacy, and monitoring of policies, legislation and market rules in the region. Jonathan has a MSc in Technology Commercialization from the joint CIMAV-University of Texas, Austin program. Eduardo Avilés is responsible for the O&M department of Enel Green Power in Mexico. He has under its portfolio more than 1 GW of photovoltaic generation and manages the budget for operation and maintenance of the solar plants in the country.
Eduardo has 17 years of professional career, eight of them in Enel, where he has worked in various strategic roles. He joined the Group in 2010 in the area of Logistics and Supply Chain in Madrid.
Five years later, in 2015, he began his professional experience in Italy where he served as Director of Maintenance and Solar Technical Service of the Enel Group. He subsequently held the position of Solar Head O&M of Enel Green Power in Mexico, a responsibility he has held since 2018.
Prior to his arrival in Enel, Avilés worked for EUFER Fenosa Renovables (Madrid, Spain) and Protec Iluminación in Spain.

He holds a degree in Industrial Engineer in Electricity awarded by the University of Burgos, Spain. He also has studies in Maintenance Engineering by the ATISAE Group in Madrid. In addition, he also holds a degree in Industrial Engineering in Organization awarded by the European University.

MEng. Nairo León is Colombian, Mechanical Engineer and Master in Energy Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He has worked for different sectors of the industry like Oil & Gas, Automotive, Pulp, and Coal Mining, in business competitiveness for Colombia and Chile. He subsequently worked for solar energy projects at the Mexican Centre for Solar Energy Innovation (CeMieSol). His current professional field is the study of photovoltaic solar energy applied in distributed generation as a researcher of Renewable Energy Institute. He is a Ph.D. student in energy engineering at UNAM and is developing a technical-economic evaluation model for bifacial systems in Mexico under distributed generation for different scales and industrial applications. Currently integrates the numerical simulation research group for the optimization of solar trackers in photovoltaic systems.

Before joining the SMA team, he worked for GE Power as a senior project manager for field execution. Prior to GE, he spent more than 10 years at Alstrom Power, serving in multiple roles during that time. Schuetz earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and energy technology at the University of Applied Sciences, Konstanz. He also earned an MBA in management and operations from the Robins School of Business. Schuetz speaks English, Spanish and German.

En los años previos a su incorporación a Balam Fund, Daniel ha trabajado tanto en Planeación y Análisis Financiero como en Desarrollo de Negocios en importantes empresas del sector energético. Su experiencia incluye el desarrollo y revisión de modelos financieros de plantas generadoras eléctricas (solares fotovoltaicas, eólicas y de ciclo combinado con múltiples turbinas), manejo de relaciones con proveedores del sector y análisis de calidad crediticia de offtakers potenciales de energía eléctrica. En InterGen, empresa generadora de energía eléctrica, ha participado en la toma de decisiones operativas y financieras estratégicas para maximizar el desempeño financiero de diversos proyectos al igual que ha participado en el proceso de venta de los activos de LATAM a Actis. Anteriormente, se desarrolló profesionalmente en Water Capital, grupo financiero enfocado en proyectos de tratamiento de aguas residuales, generación renovable y eficiencia energética, en donde participó en la estructuración de proyectos energéticos, así como la selección de proveedores y negociación de los principales contratos requeridos para la operación de cada proyecto.

With more than 23 years of experience in the Mexican energy sector, Hector Olea has actively participated in the promotion and development of renewable energy in the country. Since 2004, Hector Olea is President and CEO of Gauss, a business development firm specialized in the energy sector. Gauss activities are focused in the identification, development and structuring investment opportunities in renewable energy projects, which accounts for more than US$700 million in greenfield projects. Before, he acted as CEO of Suez in Mexico, where he led its transformation into a nationwide energy company. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Olea acted as Chairman of the Mexican Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE). He is President of the Asociación Mexicana de Energía Solar Fotovoltaica (Asolmex) and Chairman of the Mexican Section of the Mexico-US Business Energy Council. He is an economist from ITAM (Mexico) and earned his Master and PhD in Economics at Rice University (US). In 1989, he was distinguished with the Banamex Economics Award.
